In June 1863, Commander Lee troops crossed Maryland and went into Pennsylvania. On July 1, both Union and confederate troops went to Gettysburg. Lee was confident to risk another invasion of the North. He wanted to capture a Northern city. There was about 90,000 union troops and 75,000 confederate troops. The confederates attempted to find weak spots in the Union.
